I think that the blur you used was nice. However, there are a few things I would change about the photo. First, the rule of thirds; you should try and keep the attention of the photograph away from the middle (especially if it is living IMO). Second, the nose is blurry and it kind of bugs me a little. Perhaps, a side shot would work better; this would also eliminate showing too much of a blurry body. Third, I would angle the shot more to one side or directly in the center; having it partly to one side bugs me a little.
Anyway, this is just my opinion, so don't despair. Someone else may love it to death, and it's a good photograph even without the changes. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>
